Garrigues opens in Beijing

The new Beijing office will be headed by partner Manuel Torres Salazar, who is currently the Managing Partner of Garrigues in Shanghai, and will be made up of lawyers based in its Shanghai office, which opened in 2005.

Garrigues will now have more than 20 lawyers in their two offices in Asia. It is also the only Spanish firm to have two offices in China, enabling it to provide advice to Latin American business investing in China, as well as to assist Chinese SOEs and private enterprises with investments in Europe and Latin America. The firm is currently present in 12 countries, and is made up of 289 partners and 1595 lawyers.

The last five months have witnessed a number of new entries into Asia Pacific: Quinn Emanuel settled in Shanghai (May 27), Bae, Kim & Lee opened a Hong Kong office (June 5), King & Spalding opened in Tokyo (June 16), EY law added a foreign law practice in Singapore (June 17), Taylor Wessing is setting its eyes on Hong Kong (July 24) and U.S. Firm, Scott Warmuth, launched in the the Chinese capital as well (August 7)
