Iberdrola partners with 14 Spanish law firms in an unprecedented pro bono initiative
The project’s commitment to society, “Building Together,” will offer legal services, tax advice and training to social organizations free of charge.
Uruguayan law firm Castellan has announced the incorporation of María Lucía Acosta as a new partner, and who will lead the firm’s dispute resolution department.
Having worked for three years at Castellan, and with more than 10 years of experience in the field, and having shown a deep commitment to the creation of innovative solutions, her talent has been recognized in important prestigious international rankings such as Leaders League.
“With this new appointment, Lucia will assume a key role in the development and strengthening of the dispute resolution department, also collaborating with the growth of the corporate department (compliance and ESG, risk management and investment projects.
Lucía’s promotion is aligned with the firm's strategic plan aimed at providing solutions in a globalized environment, and in key areas for business growth, the firm said.
Lucía holds a doctorate law and social sciences from the Universidad de la República, and holds an LLM with a specialization in conflict resolution from Queen Mary University of London.
Her practice focuses on pre-litigation dispute negotiations as well as complex litigation and domestic and international arbitration, with extensive experience in corporate law, and civil and commercial law.
She has participated in important international seminars in negotiation, mediation and arbitration, and in March 2018 was chosen to participate in the 4th Annual Investment Conference of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris.
In corporate matters, Lucía has extensive experience in advising Uruguayan and foreign companies in their daily activities and projects, contributing to the development of international strategies.
Prior to joining Castellan, she worked for seven years at law firm Ferrere on its litigation and arbitration team, advising companies and organizations in pre-litigation negotiations and complex litigation, including analysis and selection of strategy, planning, preparation of legal briefs and execution of agreements.
She has participated in a variety of arbitration proceedings, including commercial, construction, engineering and energy, and has extensive experience in the corporate area, advising shareholders in the evaluation and start-up of companies, negotiation, design of legal structures adapted to the specific needs of clients and regulatory requirements.
