Turkey’s ELIG Gürkaynak adds partners and counsel
Turkish law firm ELIG Gürkaynak has announced two new partners, Ebru Ince and Harun Gündüz, while Selen Ermanli Sakar and Can Yildirim have been promoted to counsel.
The new appointments are effective as of January 1, 2024.
Ebru is a legal counsel specialized in competition law matters. She graduated from Bilkent University and obtained her MA in law and economics from the same university, and an MSc in competition and market regulation from the Barcelona School of Economics in 2016.
Before joining ELIG Gurkaynak, Ebru worked in the Turkish Competition Authority as a senior competition expert, and deputy head of the Supervision and Enforcement Department, which focuses primarily on information technologies, platform services, telecommunications and media.
Ebru has extensive experience in all areas of competition law including merger acquisition filings, competition law compliance matters, and competition law investigations across various sectors. In addition to her theses on competition law matters, she has published numerous papers in national and international periodicals.
For his part, Harun is a legal counsel specialized in competition law matters. He graduated from Ankara University and obtained his LLM in competition law from King’s College London and an MA in administrative law from Ankara University.
Before joining ELIG Gurkaynak, Harun worked at the Turkish Competition Authority as head competition expert, department head, and chief legal advisor. Harun authored thr book ‘Investigations and Fines on Infringements of Competition Law: 20-Year Balance Sheet of Turkish Competition Board’, and has published numerous papers in national and international periodicals.
The firm’s new counsel are Selen Ermanli Sakar and Can Yildirim.
Selen a corporate and M&A lawyer who graduated from Baskent University and was admitted to the Istanbul Bar in 2013. Before joining ELIG Gürkaynak, she worked as a corporate law and M&A lawyer in a reputable law firm in Istanbul, and she has extensive experience in corporate law, M&A, contracts law, general commercial law, capital markets law, and banking law, and has represented various multinational and national clients.
Can is a competition lawyer graduated from Istanbul Commerce University’s faculty of law, and was admitted to the Istanbul Bar in 2014. He obtained his LLM from Washington University School of Law and before joining ELIG Gurkaynak he worked at reputable law firms in Istanbul, specializing in abuse of dominance cases, M&As, restrictive practices, and cartel investigations.
