Carrión’s arrival brings the number of partners leading this practice to three, backed by a team of six associates, positioning the firm's corporate and M&A practice among the most important practices in the Peruvian market.

“Carrión's arrival reinforces Cuatrecasas' commitment to positioning and consolidating its position in the Latin American legal sector,” the firm said.

Throughout his professional career, Diego Carrión has accumulated extensive experience advising companies and investment funds on corporate, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, financial and securities market matters. He has also participated in important M&A transactions during his time at the New York office of a major US firm.

Diego is currently a professor of the commercial law institutions and corporate and financial law courses at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, and he has written several articles on topics of his specialty and actively participates in lectures and seminars on corporate law for students and lawyers.

"We are very excited about Diego joining the Lima office,” Aldo Reggiardo, managing partner of Cuatrecasas' Lima office, said. “He is undoubtedly one of the best M&A lawyers of his generation in the jurisdiction. His talent and experience will allow us to expand the capabilities of the office's commercial area and, in particular, those of the Corporate and M&A team.”

“His incorporation responds to the growth that the office has been experiencing since its opening, just over three years ago, in the market and is aligned with the vision of being one of the most outstanding firms in Peru and the region," he added.

Carrión holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and an LLM from Harvard Business School.

Regarding his incorporation to the firm, Diego Carrión said: "I am very grateful to Cuatrecasas for offering me the opportunity to continue my professional growth in a global firm, with presence in more than 13 jurisdictions, and with a strong decision to develop a powerful and high quality corporate transactional practice in the main LATAM countries”.

"Every year the integration of the Pacific Alliance countries -and Ibero-American countries- is greater, and offering a comprehensive service to local and regional clients is decisive in these operations. I am joining a first-class local team, with whom I share the goal of placing Cuatrecasas among the best firms in the region,” he added.

In addition to its offices in Lima, Cuatrecasas has 26 offices across the globe, and its presence in Latin America includes Mexico City, Bogotá and Santiago.
