Unes Maxi S.p.A., a subsidiary of the Finiper Group led by Marco Brunelli, has finalised the acquisition of 49 retail outlets from the long-standing Piedmontese brand Borello Supermercati. Borello is a prominent player in the Italian large-scale retail sector, having reported a 2025 revenue exceeding 170 million euros.
The transaction is a key element of Unes’s growth strategy in Northern Italy, aimed at consolidating its regional presence while leveraging the established market position of the Borello brand. The signing of the agreement took place in December 2025, and the closing is anticipated within the first half of 2026, pending customary regulatory and antitrust approvals.
Greenberg Traurig provided legal assistance to Unes throughout the acquisition with a multidisciplinary team. Partners Dante Campiverdi and Iacopo Stasi, alongside associate Abram Farina, managed the corporate, M&A, and real estate workstreams. Antitrust and golden power regulatory profiles were overseen by partner Edoardo Gambaro and counsel Pietro Missanelli.
Borello S.r.l. was represented by lawyer Luca Pecoraro of Studio Legale Pecoraro.
