Portuguese MFA Legal expands with new partner and Tech practice launch

MFA Legal has announced the addition of a new partner and the creation of a dedicated team focused on Technology, Data Protection, Digital Regulation, and Cybersecurity. Jorge Silva Martins, João Carminho, and Inês Coré join the firm as partner, senior associate and associate, all from CS’ Associados, with Silva Martins leading the new practice.
With this integration, the firm now comprises 19 lawyers across three key practice areas: Tax, Criminal & Compliance, and Technology, Digital & Regulatory.
Jorge Silva Martins joins MFA Legal as partner and head of the Technology, Digital & Regulatory practice. With over 20 years of experience, he advises global tech companies and startups on data protection, cybersecurity, IP, e-commerce, cryptoassets and telecoms regulation. He holds a law degree and a Master’s in Legal-Political Sciences from the University of Lisbon, an LL.M. from NYU School of Law, and completed advanced programs at Stanford (IP) and Harvard (AI).
João Carminho joins MFA Legal as a Senior Associate. He has focused his recent practice on data protection, IP, and consumer law, advising both domestic and international clients in advisory, pre-litigation, and dispute resolution matters. He holds a law degree from NOVA School of Law, a Master’s in Forensic Law from Catolica Lisbon School of Law, and has completed the IP Procedural Law Course at ICC Portugal.
Inês Coré joins as an Associate. She holds a Law degree from the University of Lisbon, an LL.M. in Law and Technology from Tilburg Universit. She has completed her studies with an intensive course on GDPR at the University of Lisbon’s Institute for Legal and Political Sciences, IP Procedural Law Course at ICC Portugal and a postgraduate course in Digital Evidence in Criminal Procedure at the University of Lisbon’s Institute for Criminal Law and Criminal Sciences.
