Peru’s Estudio Muñiz names new co-leaders of IP practice

Peruvian law firm Estudio Muñiz has announced its new co-leaders of its intellectual property (IP) practice, Piero Calderón Oliva and Bruno Merchor Valderrama, who are senior partners at the firm.

Both partners have more than 25 years of experience in matters related to copyright, trademarks, patents, plant varieties, sanitary regulation, among other issues.

Piero holds a law degree from the PUCP Law School and a master's degree in IP and new technologies from the Universidad de La Rioja in Spain. He advises the Business Software Alliance BSA, an organization that brings together world leaders of the software industry, on copyright and trademark issues, in addition to Peru’s National Association of Movie Theaters (Anasaci).

For his part, Bruno holds a law degree from the PUCP Law School and has held the positions of director of the Department for Inventions and New Technologies of Peru’s Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi).

He has advised major local and foreign companies before Indecopi and before the General Directorate of Medicines, Supplies and Drugs (Digemid), and the General Directorate of Environmental Health (Digesa), both departments of the Peruvian Ministry of Health.

Both partners are highly recognized professionals in the sector, with an ample and successful trajectory that has allowed them to be ranked by the most prestigious legal directories, including Leaders League.

In addition, both lead a team of professionals with extensive experience in preventive consulting, strategic planning for the protection of intellectual property and in assisting companies in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food and beverage industries in matters related to health regulation.

Estudio Muñiz has offices in Lima, Arequipa, Trujillo, Ica, Cusco, Piura, Chiclayo, Chincha, Tacna and Puno, among other locations in Peru.
