Mexico’s Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa adds 7 partners

Mexican law firm Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa has announced the promotion of seven partners, bringing the firm’s total to 63 across all of its offices in Mexico City, Monterrey, Querétaro, New York, Houston and Madrid.

The new partners are Aline Espinosa, who joined the firm in 2005 and holds a master’s degree in tax law from the Universidad Panamericana and has 17 years of experience in the tax area, mainly advising corporations with operations in Mexico and abroad in corporate restructuring projects, mergers and acquisitions, as well as debt and equity placements.

For his part, new partner  Anthar Gonzalez has been with the firm for 15 years and has a master’s degree in tax law from the same university and studied for a degree in public accounting and strategic finance at the ITAM university in Mexico. He has also worked as an independent tax consultant.

Marco Antonio de la Fuente de Santos, who becomes a partner in the firm’s Monterrey office, joined the firm in 2009 as an associate and has a degree in accounting and finance from the Tec de Monterrey university, and also studied accounting at the University of British Columbia.

Diego Marván Mas, who becomes a partner in the Mexico City office, joined the firm in 2002 and became a senior associate in 2015, and holds a master’s degree in anti-corruption and law from the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain, in addition to a master’s degree in tax law from the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City.

Gloria Niembro Castro, who also becomes a partner in the firm’s Mexico City office, joined Chevez Ruiz Zamarripa in 2020 as a director, prior to which she was an associate at law firm Basham Ringe y Correa for 11 years. She holds an LLM from the Cardozo School of Law and is admitted to practice law in the state of New York. She also holds a law degree from Mexico’s ITAM university.

For his part, Miguel Ángel Cantú, who is based in the firm’s Monterrey office, joined the firm in 2020 and is the director of its labor practice, and prior to that worked for 13 years at law firm Santamarina y Steta. He holds a master’s degree in labor law from Mexico’s Escuela Libre de Derecho and in labor law from the Universidad Regiomontana.

And Juan Soto, who is the firm’s new partner in its Querétaro office, is the director of the office’s labor law department since January 2021, after having joined the firm in 2019, after having worked as a senior associate at González Calvillo. He holds a master’s degree in labor law from the Escuela Libre de Derecho, and a degree in law from the Universidad de las Américas
