International law firm Gianni & Origoni has announced the appointment of Teresa Lee as a foreign partner in its Hong Kong office. The move is designed to enhance the firm’s service offerings in corporate law, M&A, capital markets, and cross-border transactions, further consolidating its position as a primary legal advisor for the Chinese market.

Lee brings extensive expertise in corporate finance and IPOs, with a specific focus on mergers and acquisitions, capital reorganisations, and international deals. Throughout her career, she has advised major clients on outbound investments from the People's Republic of China, as well as complex regulatory and compliance matters involving the Hong Kong Listing Rules and the Hong Kong Takeovers Code. She joins the firm from the Hong Kong office of JunHe, where she represented investment banks, funds, and both public and private companies, including Chinese state-owned enterprises.

The Hong Kong team, in close coordination with the Shanghai office, serves as Gianni & Origoni’s strategic hub for the Asian region. The firm has operated in China since 2007 through a dedicated desk, followed by the opening of offices in Hong Kong in 2014 and Shanghai in 2018. Recent expansions include the addition of Ambassador Vincenzo De Luca and foreign partners Sergio Scanu and Yujing Liu.

Alessandro Zalonis, partner and head of the China practice at Gianni & Origoni, stated that the arrival of Teresa Lee marks a significant step in strengthening the firm’s presence in China. He noted that her experience aligns with the firm’s regional development strategy, particularly in enhancing its capacity to assist Chinese clients with their investments in Italy and Europe within an increasingly interconnected global market.
