International law firm Eversheds Sutherland has appointed Luis Suárez de Centi Martínez as a new partner in its Tax practice in Spain, further strengthening one of the firm’s strategic areas amid sustained growth and an increasingly complex regulatory environment.

With this addition, the Spanish Tax team now comprises two partners, one counsel, two associates and one trainee, enhancing the firm’s capacity to provide high-level tax advice to domestic and international clients in a context marked by regulatory uncertainty and evolving tax frameworks.

A tax specialist with a strong international profile, Luis Suárez de Centi brings extensive experience advising large corporate groups, private equity funds and high-net-worth individuals. His practice focuses on international tax, real estate taxation, M&A-related tax matters and high value-added cross-border transactions. Throughout his career, he has regularly advised on the tax aspects of complex real estate transactions, international M&A deals, corporate and family group restructurings—particularly involving Spain and Latin America—and cross-border investment planning, both inbound and outbound.

He also has significant experience in tax audits and contentious tax proceedings before the Spanish tax authorities and courts, as well as in advising family offices and private clients on tax planning and international relocations.

Prior to joining Eversheds Sutherland, Suárez de Centi developed his career at Uría Menéndez, where he led the Tax practice of the firm’s New York office between 2018 and 2024. During this period, he advised clients with interests across the United States, Europe and Latin America, further consolidating his international expertise in cross-border tax matters and complex transactions.

Commenting on the appointment, Jacobo Martínez, managing partner of Eversheds Sutherland in Spain, said: “Luis is a highly respected professional with a global approach to tax advisory work and a proven track record in complex, high value-added transactions. His arrival significantly strengthens our ability to support both international and domestic clients in increasingly sophisticated projects.”

For his part, Luis Suárez de Centi stated: “The firm’s strong growth in Spain, its clearly international focus, the technical excellence of its teams and its commitment to sustainable growth fully align with my vision of legal practice. I am excited to begin this new chapter and to contribute to the development of the Tax practice and to delivering integrated advice to the firm’s clients.”
