CIPESS (Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development) has approved the Final Design of the Messina Strait Bridge together with a series of important complementary works that are strategic for the area.
The CIPESS resolution follows the signing of the Addendum to the original contract between the concessionaire Stretto di Messina S.p.A. and the General Contractor Eurolink S.c.p.A., led by Webuild, for a value of €10.6 billion.
The construction of the Messina Strait Bridge will be carried out by Webuild together with some of the most important players in the sector, including Sacyr (Spain) and IHI Corporation (Japan).
The project is part of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean corridor of the European Union's TEN-T (Trans-European Transport Network) and will contribute to strengthening the logistical, economic, and social integration of southern Italy and its strategic role in the European and Mediterranean context.
IHI Corporation was assisted by Lawal with a team led by Marco Pallucchini Wrede.
Studio Legale Associato Caporale Carbone Giuffrè Strano assisted Eurolink in the negotiation of the Supplementary Agreement with a team led by Giuseppe Giuffrè and Giampiero Fumel.
