Chilean law firm Ried Fabres has announced its merger with FirmaSur, with the opening of new practice areas and strategically positioning itself in southern Chile.

“The merger will culminate in the formation of a single office with a strengthened structure and a common strategic vision aimed at providing excellent legal services and greater added value to our clients,” Ried Fabres said.

“This integration allows us to consolidate our capabilities into a single team, made up of top-level lawyers, optimizing resources and experience to provide more efficient, specialized, and personalized service.”

The new firm combines Ried Fabres' presence in Santiago with FirmaSur's track record in the southern part of the country, thus expanding the former’s coverage and response capacity nationwide.

“With this merger, we significantly strengthen our ability to advise key industries in Chile, such as finance, real estate, salmon farming, and agro-industry, among others, offering comprehensive and strategic support in line with current regulatory and market challenges, while maintaining our hallmark of innovation associated with our solutions,” the firm said.

“Likewise, the merger allows us to complement our consolidated practice in capital markets, tax law, M&A, corporate, and banking, incorporating lawyers who are experts in judicial, criminal, real estate, compliance, agribusiness, and labor matters.”

In terms of the team, Ried Fabres will add Francisca Reyes and Diego Gutiérrez as partners and Diego Galindo, María Ignacia del Río, and Matías Apel as associates.

Francisca Reyes has an outstanding judicial career, especially in criminal and civil matters, which she complements with her experience in compliance matters, particularly related to the criminal liability of legal entities. Francisca holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a master's degree in criminal law from the Universidad de Talca.

She was also a partner at Firmasur (2020-2026) and an associate at Balmaceda, Cox y Piña (2014-2020), Prieto y Compañía (2012-2014), and Uribe-Etxeverría (2010-2012).

Diego Gutiérrez will lead the office's agribusiness and real estate practice. Diego holds a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, a master's degree in administrative law, environment and land use planning from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and a diploma in urban law from the same university, as well as a diploma in taxation from the Universidad de Chile (2019).

He was a partner at FirmaSur, an associate at Ried Fabres (2016-2018), and an associate at Guerrero Olivos (2014-2016).
