Chile’s Bitlaw launches fintech area, incorporates new partner

The new department will be led by the firm's new partner, Tomás Pintor Willcock, who during the last four years worked as advisor to the capital markets department of the Ministry of Finance and actively participated in the drafting of the country’s fintech law and was in charge of its passage through Congress.
Tomás graduated in law from the Universidad de los Andes, and holds an MBA from Universidad de Chile.
He has represented the Chilean government in international instances related to fintech and open finance regulations, and is considered an expert in the field, and who is frequently consulted by the press and trade associations for his expertise in financial regulation in the country, the law firm said in a statement.
In addition to his work as a lawyer and advisor, Tomás is the author of a number of articles and studies on fintech matters. He co-authored ‘Open Finance and Web Scrapping’, published in the law journal Actualidad Jurídica, published by the Universidad del Desarrollo (2022).
He also contributed to the ‘Guidelines for the Development of an Open Finance Framework in Chile, with a Focus on Competition and Financial Inclusion’, published by the Ministry of Finance.
Bitlaw is a firm focused on technology applied to law and transactions, as well as representing clients in cybersecurity, data protection and privacy issues, and e-commerce. Its new fintech department aims to extend its services offering and cater to companies operating in the sector and seeking to comply with Chile’s new fintech law.
