Chadha & Chadha has appointed Ranjna Mehta-Dutt as a partner, marking a strategic push to expand its intellectual property capabilities ahead of the firm's 60th anniversary in 2027. The hire aligns with a broader initiative to capture new market share and reinforce the firm's standing in an increasingly complex global IP landscape.

A highly regarded figure in the Indian legal market, Mehta-Dutt brings over three decades of expertise to the position. She joins from Remfry & Sagar, where she spent 25 years and served as a partner from 2007. In her previous role, she directed the Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences practice and oversaw major operational divisions, including the patent filing and design departments.

Her practice centers on high-stakes patent prosecution, cross-disciplinary portfolio management, and contentious disputes. She advises a diverse global clientele, spanning multinational corporations to major research institutions, guiding them through complex patent lifecycles, freedom-to-operate clearance assessments, and regulatory compliance before the Indian Patent Office and the National Biodiversity Authority.

The firm highlighted that Mehta-Dutt’s arrival addresses the growing convergence of digital technology, chemical engineering, and advanced therapeutics, ensuring the practice is equipped to protect high-value, multifaceted corporate assets. An active voice in the international IP community, she has served as President of the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA) Indian Group and currently sits on both the APAA International Council and its Patents Committee.
