Africatel sells PT Ventures to Sonangol for $1bn

Africatel Holdings has sold PT Ventures to Angolan state-owned company Sonangol for $1 billion.

PT Ventures is a Portuguese holding company that owns a number of assets including shareholdings in two Angolan companies, Unitel (25 per cent) and Multitel (40 per cent).

 

PT Ventures also owns credit rights arising from dividends declared for distribution by Unitel, already matured but still unpaid, as well as a set of rights arising from the final award rendered in ICC arbitration proceedings in Paris relating to a dispute between PT Ventures and the other Unitel shareholders.

 

Africatel Holdings is a Dutch holding company controlled by the Brazilian telephone company Oi.

 

Africatel was advised by Abreu Advogados, whose team was led by partner Guilherme Santos Silva (pictured). The Abreu team also included partners Miguel Teixeira de Abreu, Paulo de Tarso Domingues, Pedro Alves da Silva, Marta Romano de Castro and Rodrigo Formigal and associates Mariana Duarte and António Frusoni Gonçalves.
