Aena has appointed Ignacio Castejón Hernández as the new Chief Financial Officer of the company, following the death of his predecessor, José Leo, last April.
Since joining Aena in October 2022, he has held the position of Finance Director and has contributed to the refinancing of the company’s balance sheet through operations in the capital market, in the banking market and with the European Investment Bank. In particular, he led the successful issuance of Aena’s inaugural bond and actively participated in the definition and review of the current Strategic Plan.
Ignacio Castejón holds a degree in Business Administration and Law from ICADE (Universidad Pontificia de Comillas de Madrid) and an Executive MBA from IESE (Universidad de Navarra). He has extensive experience in the financial area developed in national and international companies and banks. Additionally, he has participated in the definition, acquisition, financing and management of airport infrastructures internationally.
Castejón has spent most of his professional career at Ferrovial. From 2020 until he joined Aena, he held the positions of Director of Asset Management and Chief Financial Officer of Ferrovial Airports, and was a director at Heathrow and at Aberdeen, Glasgow and Southampton airports, among others. Previously, he was CEO of Great Hall Partners in the United States (2017-2020) and Project Director in Corporate Development (2012-2017).
In addition, for more than 10 years, he developed different responsibilities in the areas of Investment Banking and Markets in institutions such as The Royal Bank of Scotland, HSBC and Banco Popular. Castejón began his professional career as an associate lawyer at Linklaters.
Maurici Lucena, Aena’s Chairman says that “José Leo not only diligently directed the company’s economic-financial policy, but his criteria, the result of his extensive experience and good sense, permeated many decisions that have been adopted in Aena during his term. It is impossible to erase the memory of a José Leo who passionately defended his projects and his teams, without ever losing his composure and with a fair dose of refined humor.”
