Chilean law firm Prieto Abogados has named former Baraona Fischer partner Federico Rodríguez as counsel of the energy and natural resources practice area.
Rodríguez will be joining the firm alongside senior associates Andrés Maldini and Jorge Echeverría, effective March 1st.
Rodríguez and his team have extensive experience in the development of power generation projects (solar, thermical and hydroelectric), in the Chilean salmon industry, where they have worked with both suppliers and producers, and in the mining industry, in recent years, especially in the lithium industry and its associated electromobility projects.
The new team will work together in the energy, projects, construction, M&A, environmental, financing and capital markets areas.
"His incorporation to Prieto responds to the firm's objective of strengthening the corporate and energy and natural resources areas in order to meet the increased demand for clean and sustainable energy in the country," explains Benjamín Grebe, partner and member of the firm's Board of Directors.
“In the coming years new power lines, distribution lines and more than 2500 MW in generation projects are planned to be designed, built or commissioned, and expansion and new copper and lithium projects are the country's first priority,” explains Federico Rodríguez.
"This project with Prieto responds to a common understanding of the legal business and the strength in the areas of energy, infrastructure, mining and natural resources that both teams have at a time when the country is deploying a national policy in favor of renewable energy, and the consequent importance of base minerals and lithium production for a new cleaner electricity economy in the world," he added.
