The firms signed an integration agreement in which, the team of more than 250 employees, including partners; lawyers and other professionals of SLCM; will now be part of Cuatrecasas. This alliance enables Cuatrecasas to strengthen its position in the Portuguese legal services market.
The integration will be completed on January 1st, with the managing partner of SLCM, Luís Cortes Martins, assuming the position of senior partner of Cuatrecasas in Portugal and will also be a new member of the firm’s board of directors. In addition, nine SLCM partners will join the firm in the areas of corporate, litigation and arbitration, public, financial, competition, tax and labor.
Cortes mentioned that the agreement is a new milestone in the consolidation of the Portuguese legal market, considering that both firms are committed to excellence, young talent and internationalization as incentives for growth. He also stated that the addition of both teams will allow them to expand and be more efficient in providing their services to their clients, while maintaining the characteristic distinction of both firms of having built two of the most respected and reputable law practices in the country.
Cuatrecasas' executive chairman, Rafael Fontana, believes that this integration marks the beginning of a new and exciting stage in their history, which will result in an undeniable boost of their growth in Portugal and in all the jurisdictions in which they operate.
