Lisbon-headquartered law firm PLMJ has recruited former McKinsey & Company tax lawyer Isaque Ramos as a partner.
Ramos had been with McKinsey for five years.
His expertise includes advising clients on tax matters in Portugal and Africa. Prior to joining McKinsey, Ramos had worked for EY and KPMG.
PLMJ managing partner Luís Pais Antunes said the hire of Ramos was a "decisive step in the consolidation of the transformation strategy that PLMJ has undertaken in order to provide high quality legal services to increasingly demanding clients”.
He added: “The recognition that Isaque Ramos has achieved in the area of taxation - and in the area of transactional taxation in particular - will help us to continue this transformation and to achieve a leading position among the largest national law firms".
Ramos said: "It is with great spirit and enthusiasm that I join PLMJ's tax team, which the market recognises as one of the most successful in Portugal and in the Portuguese-speaking world.”
PLMJ's tax team – which includes partners Serena Cabrita Neto (in Lisbon), Miguel C. Reis (in Oporto) João Velez de Lima (in Oporto) – now has four partners and a total of 25 lawyers.
