José has more than 10 years’ experience in the legal and tax sectors and regularly advises companies from different industries in matters related to international taxation, tax planning, transfer pricing studies, regulatory compliance, proceedings before local tax authorities and representation before the country’s tax courts.
Prior to joining Morgan & Morgan, José was a partner at Strategic Legal Consulting, a major local firm specializing in corporate, tax, real estate and other related matters, and a tax partner at Baker Tilly, a renowned international accounting and tax planning firm.
He obtained a degree in law and political science from the Universidad Católica Santa María La Antigua in Panama, and holds a master's degree in law from Tulane University in the US, where he was a Harry F. Stiles scholar.
He also attended a lawyer instruction course at Harvard Law School and completed a specialization in taxation at the Universidad Especializada del Contador Público Autorizado (UNESCPA).
José has participated in seminars on international taxation and transfer pricing at the International Tax Center Leiden in the Netherlands, and in international tax planning at the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBDF) in Prague, Czech Republic.
