Nieto Abogados incorporates two partners

Colombian law firm Nieto Abogados has announced the incorporation of two new partners, Paula Duarte and Juan Antonio Vallejo Ordoñez, who bring their experience in wealth management, inheritance and litigation to the firm.

The firm, with more than 20 years of experience, is led by Luis Eduardo Nieto, founding partner and managing partner, who says the expansion will improve the service and advice offering to its clients.

Paula Duarte has more than 25 years of experience in matters such as structuring corporate transactions, tax matters, estate management and succession planning, and advises clients in the real estate, commodities trading and technology sectors.

She holds an LLM in American Law from Boston University and is a graduate of Colombia’s Universidad de los Andes.

Duarte leads the areas of wealth management and succession planning, an area in which she has advised numerous families in the structuring of their family estates, carrying out all types of corporate and asset structuring, reorganizations as well as shareholder transactions.

For his part, Juan Antonio Vallejo Ordoñez is a law graduate with a specialization in capital markets from the Universidad Javeriana and he holds an LLM with honors from Northwestern University in the US.

Among his experience, he has held the position of judge for the commercial proceedings delegation of the Superintendence of Corporations, the first court specialized in corporate law in Latin America.

He has also completed studies in business administration at the of Sheffield in England, and worked in renowned local firms in Colombia.

Vallejo is responsible for the litigation area of Nieto Abogados as attorney in processes with amounts exceeding one billion pesos, and has acted as mediator in the negotiation of complex national and international disputes.

He has also participated in the structuring of transactions in the framework of operations related to mergers and acquisitions.

"He recently participated in the structuring of the data analytics agency, Agata, a project that makes technology available to make Bogota a smart city,” the law firm said in a statement.

“He also participated in the subscription of the agreement between ETB and Ufinet in the commercialization of neutral fiber optic network that will reach more than 2.4 million homes," the firm added.

Parallel to his experience as a lawyer, he has also been a professor on the master's degree in economic law course at the Universidad Javeriana.

Nieto Abogados has a total of 10 practice areas, arbitration and litigation, public and private contracting, corporate, competition, mergers and acquisitions, financing, estate management and succession planning, infrastructure and public services, telecommunications and media, and finally, oil, gas and energy.
