Kasznar Leonardos Announces Five New Partners

In early January, Kasznar Leonardos Propriedade Intelectual, one of Brazil’s premier intellectual property law firms, announced the promotion of five professionals to the firm's partnership, bringing its total partner count to 21. Effective as of January 1st, 2019, this wave of new partners is set to significantly boost Kasznar Leonardos' patents, trademarks and litigation departments.

 

 

New Partners

 

 

New partner of the patents department Diego Preza Mônaco holds an undergraduate degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Universidade de São Paulo (USP), a specialization degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA) and a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). Throughout his career, Mr. Mônaco has also undergone training in intellectual property issues by the Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property Agents (ABAPI) as well as National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI).

 

 

Fábio de Araújo Ottoni Ferreira is a new partner within the firm’s patents department. Mr. Ferreira has an undergraduate degree in Electronic Engineering from the Federal Center for Technological Education of Rio de Janeiro (CEFET/RJ) and a specialization degree in Intellectual Property Rights from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). Mr. Ferreira previously worked as a patent engineer at Clarke, Modet & Co. for six years as well as Momsen, Leonardos & Cia. for four years before joining Kasznar Leonardos in 2012.

 

 

Handling a range of intellectual property issues including marketing and entertainment law, trademarks, and copyrights matters, newly appointed partner Flávia Tremura Rodrigues has been practicing IP law for over 13 years. From an academic standpoint, Ms. Rodrigues earned a Bachelor of Laws and a Master’s in Civil Procedural Law from USP as well as a specialization degree in the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights from the Overseas Human Resources and Industry Development Association (HIDA) in Japan.

 

 

With a Bachelor of Laws and a specialization degree in Civil Procedural Law from Universidade Candido Mendes, new partner of the firm’s litigation department, Gustavo Coutinho Marques Bacalhau, is a registered industrial property agent which focuses on complex dispute resolution cases involving domain names, anti-counterfeiting, copyrights, digital law and advertising law.

 

 

Holding a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s in Biotechnology from USP, Priscila Mayumi Kashiwabara is a new partner within the firm’s patents practice. Ms. Kashiwabara has significant experience working with biodiversity, plant varieties and life sciences issues. Moreover, she is the co-coordinator of the Plant Variety Study Committee at the Brazilian Association of Intellectual Property (ABPI). Before joining Kasznar Leonardos, Ms. Kashiwabara worked as a research technician at USP’s Medical School, as a research assistant and IP specialist at Alellyx Applied Genomics and as a senior biotechnologist at Momsen Leonardos & Cia.
