HFW has hired project finance specialist Andrew Thomas from Hunton Andrews Kurth in London. This is the firm’s second hire into its energy practice in two weeks, with Derek Anchondo recently joining the Houston office from Greenberg Traurig, and its 23rd overall partner hire in 2018. Energy is one of HFW’s six core sectors globally and Thomas’s arrival means that practice, headed by Robert Follie in Paris, now has 33 partners and more than 100 lawyers spread across 20 international offices.
Thomas has close to 30 years of experience in the projects space where he acts for international energy companies, governments and financial institutions on high-value financings. He also has a wider banking and finance practice which covers acquisition, real estate, syndicated and Islamic finance as well capital markets, distressed debt and private equity transactions.
