Guerrero Olivos has strengthened its IP area with the appointment of Marcos Morales as new senior counsel.
Mr. Morales graduated from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and holds a master’s degree in private law from Universidad de Chile. He has been advisor of Instituto Nacional de Propiedad Industrial (INAPI) for the drafting project of the new trademark guidelines. In addition, he has been legal director of Alessandri’s studio, consultant of the World Intellectual Property Organization (OMPI), partner in charge of trademarks of Silva & Cia and legal director of the IP department of the Ministry of Economy. He is also a professor of IP law and has published the only existing treaty in Chile about the processing of trademarks, as well as several articles related to his specialty in national and international legal journals.
He joins a team led by senior associate, Diego Morandé, a lawyer from the Universidad de Los Andes, who earns a LL.M. from the University of California at Berkeley and a diploma in litigation and new procedures at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Guerrero Olivo’s IP area provides comprehensive service to clients, both in Chile and abroad, in relation to the processing of trademarks and patents as well as in copyright, transfer to technology, litigation and arbitration, domain names, personal data, confidentiality and cyber security matters, among others.
