Grupo Marques completes €60m bank debt restructuring

Construction and real estate business Grupo Marques has completed a bank debt restructuring that has involved the spin-off of the group’s distribution businesses.

Construction and real estate business Grupo Marques has completed a bank debt restructuring that has involved the spin-off of the group’s distribution businesses.


As a result, the group was able to deleverage around €60 million of syndicated bank debt.


The Grupo Marques, which is based in the Azores, has a turnover of €102 million and more than 1000 employees. In addition to operating in the construction, real estate, and distribution sectors, it also has health industry business lines.


Grupo Marques was founded in 1979 by Primitivo Marques and Maria Manuela Marques (pictured).


Grupo Marques was advised by Abreu Advogados on the deal. The Abreu Advogados team included Nuno Cunha Barnabé, Maria Inês Assis, Joana Maldonado Reis, Gonçalo Delicado, Cláudia Santos Malaquias, António Vidal, Pedro Alves da Silva, Manuel Santos Vítor, and Rodrigo Formigal.
