Sidley Austin’s global finance practice co-head and former London managing partner Matthew Dening has left for Baker McKenzie. A derivatives expert, Dening re-joins the firm he started his career in and had left 14 years ago. He will sit in the capital markets team. This hire is part of Baker McKenzie’s recent expansion of its capital markets, and wider corporate finance, capabilities. Sidley’s London corporate practice co-head Thomas Thesing, who has been at the firm for close to 20 years, had taken over from Dening as office head in July.
