Diaz Reus Opens Guatemalan Office

Diaz, Reus & Targ, LLP has announced the opening of a new office in Guatemala, which will be led by lawyers Manuel Arturo Soto and Rodolfo Sosa de León, both of whom possess more than 40 years’ experience. This is the group’s 11th office in LatAm and will strengthen the firm’s ability to provide reliable and effective legal advice in the country.

Manuel Arturo Soto is a former member of the Congress of Guatemala, the Latin American Parliament and the Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Guatemala. Mr. Soto was appointed by the Congress of Guatemala as Justice of the Supreme Court and currently serves as President of the Mexican Chamber of Commerce.  

He has vast experience in business transactions, contract laws, corporate finance and private equity; foreign investment, international trade, mergers and acquisitions and real estate.

 

Rodolfo Sosa de León has served for more than 15 years as president and chairman of the Board of Basic Resources. Mr. Sosa is a former member of the Center for the Defense of the Constitution of Guatemala (CEDECON) and a former professor of notarial law and civil procedural law in the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences at the Rafael Landívar University. He currently holds the position of Chairman of Empresa Petrolera del Itsmo (EPI). He has considerable experience in agencies and distribution, business & finance transactions, contract laws, corporate finance, private equity, securities, international law & tax planning, litigation, arbitration & mediations, mergers and acquisitions, mining, electrical and telecommunications, among others.
