Deputy Secretary General of ICC José Feris to Join Squire Patton Boggs

Mr. Feris joined the ICC in 2004, where he has held positions as managing counsel of the court and secretary of the ICC Latin American Arbitration Group. In 2011 he was appointed deputy secretary general. Mr. Feris has played an influential role in revising the ICC Rules of Arbitration in 2012 and is also working on the rules for 2017. In addition he has also assisted with establishing the International Court of Arbitration of the ICC in New York City (SICANA) and a representative office in Shanghai.
According to George von Mehren, the global chair of the Squire Patton Boggs international dispute resolution practice, “It will be great to have José working with us. He has unique experience and insight gained from his career at the ICC Court and the role he has played in the development of arbitration in Latin America. During the course of his career he has supervised thousands of arbitration cases and, as a recognized specialist in this field, the depth of his knowledge and expertise will be highly prized by our clients.”
When asked about his recent appointment Mr. Feris said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my career at the ICC. The Paris office at Squire Patton Boggs which was established in 1995 and represents international and domestic clients on corporate/M&A, litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution, competition, employment law, tax and commercial and regulatory matters. The arrival of José Feris will take the total number of lawyers based at the Paris office to 40, 16 of whom are partners.
