As part of its expansion plans in the region, Dentons, the world’s largest law firm by headcount, has combined with Argentina’s Rattagan Macchiavello Arocena and Uruguay’s Jiménez de Arechaga, Viana & Brause. This move sees Dentons, present in 23 countries in LatAm and the Caribbean, become the largest global law firm in both countries.
“Dentons is now the first truly Pan-Latin American and Caribbean firm in the history of the legal profession. Since entering the LAC region in 2016, the firm will now have offices in 23 countries across the region." said Joe Andrew, global chair of Dentons.
Rattagan Macchiavello Arocena has extensive experience in corporate and M&A, environment and natural resources, energy, banking and finance, compliance and anticorruption, government relations, infrastructure, labor law, litigation and dispute resolution, pharmaceuticals and tax.
Jiménez de Aréchaga, Viana & Brause specializes in banking and finance, corporate and M&A, energy, infrastructure, labor law, litigation and dispute resolution, natural resources, and real estate.
"Dentons' combinations in Colombia, Central America, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, the Caribbean, Venezuela, and Chile have helped to establish Dentons as the only pan-LAC law firm, and these combinations in Argentina and Uruguay, further strengthen the position for Dentons to become the leading global law firm in the region," said Jorge Alers, CEO of Dentons LAC region.
The tie-up, following approval by partners of the three firms and subject to meeting regulatory requirements, is expected to be oficialized in the coming months.
The firm’s moves in the region during 2019 includes the launching of Dentons in Venezuela, having acquired Norton Rose Fulbright’s business there, and the setting up of Dentons Larraín Rencoret in Chile.
