The link-up with Asjusa results in a two partner, 20-strong, team of professional liability and insurance lawyers joining DAC Beachcroft, thus strengthening the firm’s existing Madrid office. The team focusses on the healthcare-related insurance market.
Asjusa’s healthcare and medical negligence team is led by partners Eduardo Asensi Pallarés and Iñigo Cid-Luna Clares. It has extensive experience in offering contentious (med-mal) and non-contentious (regulatory and tech) services, and advising public and private health organisations, and their insurers, across Spain.
David Pollitt, DAC Beachcroft’s managing partner, said: “This move sends a clear message to the market about our continued focus on being the law firm of choice for the global insurance industry. International growth is a cornerstone of our strategy to bolster the global support and sustainable value we provide to our clients. This highly strategic combination, which augments both our insurance and health offering, does just that.”
Eduardo Asensi Pallarés, managing partner of Asjusa, said: “Our team has spent years developing close relationships with public health services in Spain, and we have guided them through healthcare public sector changes in the region, including hardening conditions. As the private health insurance market has also grown, we have been well positioned to support our clients through all aspects of healthcare law including regulatory, technology, liability and medical malpractice. Now, together with DAC Beachcroft, we will be in an even stronger position to provide our clients with the best possible support.”
Gustavo Blanco, DAC Beachcroft’s international development director, said: “The strengthening of our international offering, particularly in Madrid, is an important step for our firm. There are market opportunities that make Spain a strategically important hub for us and a key target for investment.
“The team at Asjusa brings a breadth and depth of experience that will add new services to our existing offering and enhance our entire international business.”
DAC Beachcroft’s expansion in Madrid follows on from its launch in Paris and expansion in Dublin during 2019. It has also recently launched an office in Belfast and added a new five-partner team in Glasgow.
