Colombian construction company Amarilo has secured a 535-billion-peso ($129.3 million) syndicated loan granted by Bancolombia and eight other banks.

This transaction marks a significant milestone in the construction sector, as it is the first syndicated loan in Colombian pesos granted to a company in the construction industry, according to law firm Posse Herrera Ruiz, which advised the lenders.

“The deal stood out for its complexity and innovation, involving the renovation of existing obligations, assignment of guarantees, and tailor-made guarantee structures,” the firm said.

The loan will be used to support urban development, sustainability, and innovation in the country, reaffirming the role of structured finance in driving the development of housing projects.

Posse Herrera Ruiz’s team advising the lenders was led by partners Jesús Albarrán and Juan José Huertas, with Camilo Ballesteros, Nicolas Giraldo, Valeria Arias, Maria Cecilia Lievano, Alexandra Schmedling and Manuela Constain.

Law firm Cuatrecasas acted as counsel to Amarilo, with a team led by partner Natalia Arango, with Anita Zuluaga, Isabel Ocampo, María Alejandra Martínez and Laura Valencia.
