CMS, Nabarro and Olswang Partners Approve Three-Way Merger
Posted on Oct 10, 2016

The new firm will be called “CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang,” however they will trade under the name CMS. The original plan was for the vote to be done on the week of October 17th when plans were put on hold at the end of September, yet as of today, the trio have given the go-ahead.
In this partnership, the new firm will touch almost £1bn in total revenues. The merger — which will be the largest ever in the UK legal services market — will combine over 1,000 partners and over 7,500 employees in 36 countries.
According to senior partner for CMS UK, Penelope Warne, the deal was a sign of confidence in the City of London, adding that the three firms had been in talks before the Brexit vote. She also added that the firm will also invest more in new technology, including artificial intelligence, which is increasingly allowing greater automation of routine work in law firms.
The merger will give strength to the enlarged law firm with greater expertise in six key sectors, including energy, financial services and technology.
