Chile’s Mallplaza Enters Bogotá

The shopping center was sold to Mallplaza by Colombian private equity firm Fondo de Capital Privado Nuevomundo, trhough its real estate trusts, Fideicomiso Calima Centro Comercial and Fideicomiso Arrendamientos Calima Bogotá.
The acquisition hands Mallplaza 440 retail outlets in the Calima mall, as well as the lease contracts concerning those properties, and comprises around 700,000 square feet of retail space.
Mallplaza’s acquisition also includes a loan granted by Banco Davivienda to the REIT, Compartimiento Uno del Fondo de Capital Privada Mallplaza.
Fondo de Capital Privado Nuevomundo was advised by law firm Gómez-Pinzón Abogados, which advised on all aspects of the transaction, for which it deployed its M&A, real estate law and tax law teams.
The law firm’s team was led by partners Felipe Mariño and Mauricio Piñeros, with associates Juan Pablo Caicedo De Castro and Juan Pablo Arenas.
