Prior to joining the firm, Raúl was a coordinator at Mexico’s antitrust watchdog, the Comisión Federal de Competencia Económica (COFECE) for nearly five years.

Raúl has ample experience as an economist and lawyer, and holds a law degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and a degree in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, in addition to a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago.

Regarding his appointment, FK Economics partner Jorge Fantuzzi said it “consolidates the work we have been doing for more than 10 years, empowering our dedication as consultants and researchers in free competition with a renowned expert in the matter”.

“Furthermore, Raúl fits perfectly with the profile of our team, which adds value to our clients through rigor and pragmatism, which he has demonstrated during his nearly five years at COFECE,” Fantuzzi added.

For his part, partner Raúl Mejía said Raúl as country head “represents an opportunity to bring the learning and experience of many years in economic competition practice to a firm that has distinguished itself for maintaining high standards of analytical rigor and solid technical and advisory reports for more than 10 years”.

“It’s a huge responsibility, but I know the work that all of the team at FK Economics does, both individually and collectively, and which gives me a lot of confidence in and motivation for what we are building in Mexico,” Mejía added.
