Chilean law firm Albagli Zaliasnik (AZ) has announced the promotion of two partners, Loreto Hoyos and Francisco Fuentes, strengthening the firm’s criminal and civil litigation and arbitration practices, respectively.

As part of the firm’s commitment to developing internal talent and consolidating strategic practices for its clients in a context of growing regulatory and judicial complexity, it has strengthened its criminal and civil litigation-arbitration practices with these promotions.

“With these appointments, AZ will continue to enhance its value proposition and build teams characterized by excellence, client-centricity, and a modern approach to the practice of law,” the firm said.

Loreto Hoyos is a graduate of the Universidad de Chile with a master’s degree in criminal law from the Universidad de Talca. Her practice focuses on medium- and high-complexity criminal litigation, with a special emphasis on economic crimes.

Her career has been solidified through her involvement in various high-profile cases, advising companies and individuals on the design of defense strategies and criminal litigation. She trained alongside AZ´s founding partner Gabriel Zaliasnik, has served as head of the firm’s criminal practice group for several years, and her leadership in highly complex litigation and economic crime cases has helped position the firm as a leader in corporate criminal law.

“I am proud to take on this new role,” Loreto said, pledging that “we will continue to contribute to the growth of AZ’s criminal practice group, strengthening a specialized, strategic, and results-oriented practice.”

For his part, new partner Francisco Fuentes is a lawyer from the Universidad Pontificia Católica de Chile and completed a specialization in civil liability and insolvency. He also has extensive experience advising and representing companies across various sectors, including energy, healthcare, retail, investments, real estate, and sports corporations, in highly complex disputes.

Since joining AZ in 2017, he has demonstrated the ability to lead complex disputes and design legal and commercial strategies aligned with his clients’ business objectives.

“This appointment represents a significant professional challenge and, at the same time, recognition of the work we have carried out alongside the team over the years,” he commented.
