Mexico’s antitrust watchdog, the Federal Economic Competition Commission (COFECE) has approved Bosch’s acquisition of Johnson Controls International’s residential and light commercial HVAC business, one of the most significant transactions in the international heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) sector.

Bosch’s acquisition of Johnson Controls International’s residential and light commercial HVAC business includes its shares in Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning Holding Ltd.

The $8 billion transaction, was recognized by Bosch executives as the largest deal in the group’s history, which will make Home Comfort Bosch an extremely attractive segment and a part of its core business.

Mexican law firm Basham, Ringe y Correa advised Bosch Group, Johnson Controls, and Hitachi during the review process before COFECE.

The law firm’s competition team was formed by partner Amílcar Peredo, senior associate León Jiménez and junior associate Fátima Santamaría, all from Basham’s Mexico City office.
