Posted on Apr 27, 2026

Boies Schiller Flexner LLP has announced the appointment of Nicola Bonante as a partner in its Milan office, marking the official launch of the firm’s Italian employment law department. Joining alongside Bonante from a primary American firm are Tiziana de Virgilio, who assumes the role of counsel, and senior associates Noemi Cauzzo and Daniele Demelio.
Nicola Bonante brings extensive experience in employment law and industrial relations, with a focus on management incentive schemes—including stock options, MBOs, and LTIPs—as well as compensation and benefits policies and corporate restructuring processes, often within cross-border contexts. He regularly advises Italian and multinational companies and private equity funds on the employment law profiles of extraordinary corporate transactions. Bonante is a member of the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA), the International Association of Defence Counsel (IADC), and the Italian Employment Lawyers Association (AGI).
Tiziana de Virgilio specialises in employment law, providing judicial and out-of-court assistance to national and multinational entities regarding personnel management, industrial relations, and outsourcing processes. Her expertise includes managing inspections and litigation with competent authorities, as well as designing organisational models under Legislative Decree 81/2008 and integrated compliance systems under Legislative Decree 231/2001. She is also active in ESG and social sustainability matters, with a focus on the impact of new technologies and artificial intelligence on the workplace.
Nicola Bonante stated that the market increasingly requires an integrated approach and global platforms capable of providing assistance across national borders, noting that Boies Schiller Flexner represents an ideal environment for offering coordinated global solutions. Luigi M. Macioce, a partner at Boies Schiller Flexner in Milan and Rome, described Bonante’s arrival as a strategic milestone that strengthens the firm’s presence in Italy and adds a high-level practice area that is central to client needs.
The launch of the employment practice follows the firm’s expansion in Italy initiated in December 2021. The Milan and Rome offices provide services in litigation, arbitration, commercial and corporate law, corporate governance, international tax, and private client services. This latest team expansion follows the January 2026 appointment of Gianluca Faella, who focuses on competition and regulatory matters.
