Serviliano is an expert in international taxation, advising domestic and multinational enterprises in a wide-array of industries on the implications arising from economic activities such as cross-border transactions, joint ventures, M&As, and transfer pricing.
Additionally, Serviliano has extensive litigation experience in Venezuelan tax courts and in administrative proceedings before the tax authorities.
Before joining Baker McKenzie, he worked at his own firm Abache Abogados, a boutique specialized in consulting and strategic tax litigation.
"Serviliano's addition to the team will help us further strengthen our growing tax capabilities across the globe and our commitment to addressing tax from every angle," said Ronald Evans, managing partner of Baker McKenzie’s Venezuela office.
The addition of Serviliano follows other recent lateral appointment in Latin America, such as that of Bogotá-based Juan David Velasco, who joined as a partner from law firm Posse Herrera Ruiz.
Baker McKenzie's tax practice is one of the most highly regarded in the world. With 950 tax practitioners in more than 40 countries, the practice collaborates across borders and specialties to stay abreast of changing tax landscapes worldwide.
The firm's tax planning and transactions group supports the firm's M&A practice on transactions, assisting clients with post-acquisition integrations and pre-disposition restructurings, and consulting with clients on a wide variety of tax issues.
