Andersen acquires CHR Legal, adding four new partners

Andersen’s Spanish practice has acquired multidisciplinary Barcelona-based law firm CHR Legal, adding to its expertise in tax, commercial and criminal law. The move is part of Andersen’s 2021-2023 strategic plan, which places a special focus on growing in Barcelona. CHR’s three co-founders, Legal José María Cusí, María Jesús Hernández Elvira and Juan Roda, will join Andersen as partners, as will José Ignacio Parellada, partner of commercial and mergers and acquisitions. All four partners will become part of Andersen’s national practice.

Cusí has more than 25 years’ experience specializing in international taxation, corporate restructuring, large estates and family businesses. He has worked at Cuatrecasas, and was the partner responsible for the tax area of Clifford Chance in Barcelona, as well as the partner responsible for the tax practice for Spain at Bird & Bird.

Hernández has more than 20 years of experience, including 14 as a judge in the Canary Islands. She specializes in economic criminal law and corporate compliance programs. Before founding CHR Legal, she was responsible for the criminal area at Ontier and compliance at RCD.

Juan Roda, who has more than 20 years of professional experience, has specialized in international taxation, corporate restructuring and tax procedures. He has worked in law firms such as EY and Roca Junyent, among others.

Parellada has more than 25 years of experience in commercial, contractual, corporate, mergers and acquisitions, family business and large wealth advisory services. He has worked at KPMG, was the managing partner of the Ramón y Cajal office in Barcelona for 10 years and, later, the managing partner of the PwC commercial department in Barcelona.
