HERRERA DÍAZ ABOGADOS is established in Colombia and was created in 2011 to satisfy the needs of domestic and foreign clients requiring legal consultancy and litigation oriented to protecting their Intellectual Property and intangible assets such as Data, Privacy and Publicity rights. In order to protect its client’s interests, the firm specializes in the fields of Copyright, Industrial Property, Entertainment, Media Law, Data Protection, Labor, Videogame, Audiovisual and Music Law.

The firm was founded by JOSÉ ROBERTO HERRERA DÍAZ, attorney from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana of Bogota, Colombia, who holds an LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Competition Law of the MIPLC. Its founder has professional and educational experience in Colombia and Germany, and has published works including “Ownership of Copyright in Works created in Employment Relationships: Comparative study of the laws of Colombia, Germany and the United States of America”. Mr. Herrera is Professor at different Universities in I.P. and Entertainment Law. He is also member of different IP and Entertainment Law Associations and he is the current president of the Entertainment Law Committee of ASIPI and Past President of the Copyright Committee of the same association. He has been lead in the Subcommittee on Minimum Standards on Right of Publicity at INTA and he is currently Arbiter and Mediator before the WIPO, the Colombian Copyright Office and the Chamber of Commerce of Bogota.

In order to satisfy the needs of employers and employees relating to intangible asset protection (inter alia Software, Trade secrets, Patents), HERRERA DÍAZ ABOGADOS has strategic labour law alliances with the firms: Herrera Laboralistas and José Roberto Herrera Vergara EU as a way of offering specialized services in this particular field of law. The firm is mainly oriented to the Technology, Media, Entertainment and Sports Industries. Among its clients, the firm advises the Entertainment Software Association, The Motion Picture Association and Conmebol.

We were invited by the World Intellectual Property Organization to give conferences in Germany and Poland.
