The World Monuments Fund, an international non-profit organisation headquartered in New York, has announced the incorporation of World Monuments Fund Italia ETS. This new entity is dedicated to developing and coordinating cultural heritage protection activities throughout Italy. The official launch of the Italian branch took place at the Museo Poldi Pezzoli in Milan, where the foundation’s inaugural project—the restoration of the museum’s Salone Dorato—was also unveiled.

The establishment process and legal structuring of the entity were managed by Pavia e Ansaldo, which advised the founder, World Monuments Fund Inc., throughout all phases of the operation. Mario J. Abate, partner and director of the firm’s US Desk, oversaw the creation of the foundation and the finalisation of its registration in the National Single Registry of the Third Sector (RUNTS). Additionally, Marco Jannon, a partner at Pavia e Ansaldo, has been appointed as the Statutory Auditor (Sindaco) of World Monuments Fund Italia ETS.

We are very proud to have been able to support a prestigious and historic institution such as the World Monuments Fund in this important developmental step in Italy. Our intervention focused on the legal structuring of the entity and accompanying the founder through all phases of the establishment process, with particular attention to the correct classification within the scope of the Third Sector. (Mario J. Abate)

The firm’s mandate included ensuring the correct regulatory framework for the foundation and supporting the investment required to initiate activities in Italy. Pavia e Ansaldo will continue to provide legal assistance for the foundation’s future operations. Since its founding in 1965, the World Monuments Fund has operated in over 110 countries to preserve historic sites through conservation, advocacy, and training in collaboration with public institutions and local communities.
