Telefónica has appointed Catalan lawyer Juan Carlos Ros Brugueras to the board of Telefónica Audiovisual Digital, the entity overseeing Movistar+‘s operations. This move is part of a broader leadership restructuring under new chairman Marc Murtra, who was appointed on January 18. This news was confirmed through the Official Bulletin of the Mercantile Registry (BORME).
Juan Carlos Ros Brugueras is currently a partner at the Barcelona-based law firm Brugueras, García-Bragado & Asociados and brings extensive experience, having previously served as General Secretary and Board Secretary of Telefónica Internacional S.A. from 1998 to 2007, and as General Manager of Legal Services at Telefónica S.A. from 2007 to 2010.
His appointment to the board of Telefónica Audiovisual Digital comes during a key period of restructuring at Movistar+, driven by the recent leadership changes. In March, the company’s Board of Directors appointed Javier de Paz as President of Movistar+, succeeding Sergio Oslé, and Daniel Domenjó as CEO of the platform, replacing Cristina Burzako. Despite stepping down as CEO, Burzako remains a member of the board of Telefónica Audiovisual Digital.
Javier de Paz is a long-standing member of Telefónica’s Board of Directors, having joined in late 2007 during César Alierta’s presidency. Prior to his role at Telefónica, De Paz played a prominent role in the Socialist Youth and the executive committee of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) between 1984 and 1993.
