South Korean law firm Bae, Kim & Lee (BKL) has established an office in Hong Kong, as they increasingly assert themselves on the international stage.

Based in the Hong Kong Club building, the office will enable Bae, Kim & Lee to provide South Korean law advice to corporates and financial institutions on their investments in South Korea, as well as to South Korean clients on their transactions in Hong Kong.

Tongeun Kim, the firm’s corporate partner will head the Hong Kong office, and finance and regulatory specialist, Dongwook Kang, will join him.

Keun Byung Lee, BKL’s senior partner, commented on the opening, “…a Hong Kong presence can be a decisive plus. These days it’s simpler than ever to handle work long distance, but, in terms of competition and outreach, it’s vital to be here in person.”
The firm also announced the plan to open offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Vietnam, in the second half of this year.

In April, BKL opened an office in Dubai, becoming the first South Korean firm to launch a presence in the Middle East.
