Sidley Strengthens Munich Team With Another Seven Partners From Kirkland & Ellis

Last year the firm hired six partners from Kirkland’s London office to open an office in Munich. The team is currently led by lead Munich partner Volker Kullmann, who represents private equity houses on M&A transactions and corporate finance.

The corporate partners that will be joining are Björn Holland, Marcus Klie, Christian Zuleger and Nicole Schlatter. On the finance side, partners Markus Feil and Roderic Pagel will join.

Sidley have also brought in financial restructuring head Kolja von Bismarck from Linklaters. Many of the recent hires were associates with Linklaters prior to joining Kirkland & Ellis.

According to Sidley’s European head George Petrow: ”The addition of these outstanding partners to our Munich office is another key step forward on Sidley’s road toward first-tier global leadership in acting for private capital. Contrary to growing skepticism in some quarters about the future of globalized markets, we remain convinced that the ability to offer cross-border legal services will continue to offer outstanding growth opportunities to the firms capable of exploiting them, and nowhere more so than in private equity, restructuring and M&A.”
