The law firm, which describes Mexico City as “the Mecca of startups in the region,” guides early-stage companies in the navigation of the legal obstacles to be surmounted in order to streamline each business’s growth.
The firm specializes in compliance, antitrust, corporate law, the drawing up of contracts, cybersecurity and data security, labor laws, intellectual property and regulatory laws, taxation and venture capital investment.
The team in Mexico will be led by partner Sofia Arozarena Arteaga, who specializes in corporate, finance and M&A, and who joined Legal Ventures in July of this year.
Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a self-employed lawyer following a stint as senior legal counsel at Sanofi, which followed a three-year role as legal director at Amigo Group, also in Mexico City. She holds a law degree from Mexico’s Universidad Anáhuac.
Legal Ventures was founded by Alberto Arrieta in a bid to help entrepreneurs to carry out their projects and generate value in the Peruvian entrepreneurial ecosystem, as well as to offer quality legal advice with clear and flexible fees.
He focuses his practice in venture capital, corporate law, contracts and commercial transactions, and has advised on capital raises of more than $50 million for Peruvian startups.
Prior to founding Legal Ventures, Alberto worked at law firm Montezuma and Porto, having previously spent seven years at Nextel.
He holds a law degree from the Universidad de Lima and is a graduate of the specialization program in business management from the Universidad Pacífico, and of the specialization program in corporate law at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. He is also a graduate in digital law from the ESAN, and is a member of the Callao Bar Association.
Alberto is joined on the team by partner and CEO Antonella Puntriano, a lawyer turned entrepreneur who worked for a law firm in Lima and as a business development director in Madrid prior to joining Legal Ventures.
She focuses her practice on corporate law, commercial transactions and contracts, and brings more than eight years of experience advising startups, e-commerce companies and entrepreneurs.
She holds a law degree from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas and a master’s degree in international business from EAE Business School in Madrid, as well as a diploma in contracts and damages from the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain.
