NXP Semiconductors has appointed Michael Hoffmann as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, effective July 2026. Based in Hamburg, Hoffmann now leads the company's global legal organization, comprising approximately 100 legal professionals worldwide.

A long-standing member of NXP's legal team, Hoffmann joined the semiconductor manufacturer in 2007 and has built a broad international career spanning commercial, regulatory and transactional legal matters. Over the past 19 years, he has held several senior leadership positions, including General Counsel for the Asia-Pacific region while based in Singapore. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President, Chief Commercial Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, leading NXP's global commercial legal function and supporting key strategic initiatives.

In his new role, Hoffmann oversees legal leaders across commercial legal, intellectual property, corporate governance, regulatory affairs and compliance. He will advise the executive leadership team and the Board on strategic legal issues, including geopolitical developments, evolving regulatory frameworks, technology and business transformation.

Before joining NXP, Hoffmann worked as Senior Legal Counsel at T-Mobile. He holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in American Law from Wake Forest University School of Law, completed his First State Examination in Law at Heidelberg University and also studied law at University of Lausanne.

Commenting on his appointment, Hoffmann said he was "excited" to take on the position and paid tribute to his predecessor, Jennifer Wuamett, thanking her and his colleagues for their trust and support throughout his career. He also outlined his vision for the legal department, emphasizing a proactive approach aligned with the pace of the business. According to Hoffmann, strong governance and effective risk management should enable the company to "move fast with confidence" while supporting NXP's continued growth.

Hoffmann succeeds Jennifer Wuamett, who has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Sustainability Officer at NXP's headquarters in Austin, Texas.

NXP Semiconductors develops semiconductor solutions for the automotive, mobile, communications infrastructure and industrial sectors. The company employs around 1,200 people in Germany, primarily in research and development and sales.
