Although few women have to date reached the top of the American tech sector, Thai Lee has been a fixture for several decades.

Born in Bangkok and raised in South Korea, Thai Lee studied at the prestigious Amherst College and obtained an MBA from Harvard. In 1989, she embarked on an entrepreneurial adventure with her husband and created SHI International, a company specialising in IT services. When the couple separated in 2002, she continued to manage the rapidly growing company alone. With great success too – the group registered turnover of $10 billion in 2018. Thai Lee’s personal fortune, for what it is worth, is estimated at $2.3 billion, making her the 48th-richest woman in America.
