The appointment marks a key milestone in the firm’s regional growth strategy and its vision for interdisciplinary leadership in legal services.
Mariella holds a degree in communications from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and brings over 15 years of experience leading digital, commercial, and institutional strategies in organizations such as IBM, Belcorp, Accenture, and Peru’s national tax authority SUNAT.
Her profile has given her a strategic perspective on the transformation of the legal industry, enriched by her work with top-tier law firms and consulting companies in the country.
Since early this year, she has served as Niubox’s head of marketing and business development, a role in which she has played a key part in driving the firm’s growth and positioning in Peru and across the Andean region.
“The future of the legal sector depends on diverse perspectives, collaboration, and strategic vision. I’m honored to be in a position to shape and lead that vision” Mariella said regarding her appointment.
For his part, Niubox founder and CEO Oscar Montezuma said: “We already trust non-physicians to run clinics, non-engineers to lead global tech companies, and non-academics to manage top universities. Trusting non-lawyers to help lead legal services firms through empowered roles and deep expertise is not a radical idea — it’s a logical step toward building more resilient, human, and forward-looking organizations”.
“A well-run firm doesn’t scale by simply adding more partners or practice areas. It scales when it understands its model, aligns around a clear strategy, and manages its resources wisely. And that kind of sustainable growth often comes from the kind of management that isn’t taught in law school,” he added.
With offices in Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, Niubox continues to position itself as a leading firm in Latin America in areas such as artificial intelligence, data protection, telecommunications, digital platforms, and technology regulation, offering an integrated service model at the intersection of law, strategy and innovation.
