Morgan Lewis & Bockius will join forces with Singapore firm Stamford Law Corporation to strengthen its presence across Asia.
Morgan Lewis & Bockius, the largest U.S. law firm by number of lawyers based domestically, will establish a Singapore office by combining with the 80-lawyer Stamford Law Corp, effective from April 1. This is its latest move of expansion after the integration of more than 750 lawyers and staff (including 226 partners) from Bingham McCutchen last November.

The new structure, to be known as Morgan Lewis Stamford in Singapore, will be the only fully integrated firm in Singapore that can practice across all legal service areas. Stamford Law senior director Suet-Fern Lee will continue to lead the Singapore office as Managing Partner. Describing the combination as “unprecedented in extent and structure”, she was confident that it would allow her team to “undertake much larger, more complex and in-depth cross-border legal transactions for many of the largest and most dynamic global corporations”.

This will be the 29th office of Morgan Lewis and its third Asian office after Tokyo and Beijing. It is expected to become a “powerhouse to serve clients with strategic interest in Singapore and across the Asian market”.
