Macquarie acquires Spanish healthcare group Viamed Salud

The Australian investment bank, Macquarie Group, has acquired 100% of Viamed Salud, which has an annual revenue of €150 million and a network of 25 health centers, including hospitals and polyclinics, distributed throughout Spain.

Macquarie enters the Spanish healthcare sector with this purchase which has been carried out through its investment fund Macquarie European Infrastucture Fund 6 (MEIF 6) who has appointed Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA) as its investment manager.

The private healthcare group, Viamed Salud, has a hospital network comprising nine medical-surgical hospitals, three recovery centers, a social healthcare center and 15 ambulatory centers. It has facilities in nine Spanish cities, with a strong presence in La Rioja, Aragon and Andalucía. It currently employs more than 3,000 professionals.

Spanish firm RLD acted as advisor for Viamed in this deal, with a team led by partner Rafael López-Diéguez Gamoneda.
